In an effort to increase protections for online users and enhance global collaborations, the Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group ( M3AAWG ) is honored to announce the completion of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between M3AAWG and the Japan Anti-Abuse Working Group (JPAAWG).
This agreement paves the way for a strategic partnership that will enhance the efficacy of both organizations while further protecting the online communities we serve.
Originally formed as an independent regional spinoff of M3AAWG, JPAAWG strives to unite against online abusers throughout Asia. It holds regular General Meetings and offers a platform in the region to combat Japan's unique cybersecurity challenges.
“The MOU supports a broader worldwide initiative spearheaded by groups like M3AAWG and JPAAWG to drive greater impact. We know online abuse is continuously gaining sophistication as technology expands in capabilities, making these types of agreements increasingly important among the cybercrime-fighting community,” said M3AAWG’s Board of Directors Vice-Chairperson, Severin Walker.
Severin and Sharon Kent, Co-Chair of M3AAWG’s AI Committee, each presented at the JPAAWG 7th General Meeting last November. An article recapping these presentations and highlighting the M3AAWG and JPAAWG alliance recently appeared in ScanNet Security, one of the largest cybersecurity media outlets in the country.
Both M3AAWG and JPAAWG acknowledge a variety of shared challenges facing the global internet community and are committed to collaborating more closely to address these issues under this MOU. Through its global outreach and partnerships, M3AAWG aims to maximize its impact on the worldwide fight against online abuse.
“This MOU exemplifies another strong step in the right direction as we work to achieve our lofty vision of an entire world free of online abuse,” said M3AAWG’s Executive Director, Amy Cadagin.
