The Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG) strongly supports the Safer Internet Day campaign, which aims to promote online safety and responsible internet use among all users, especially children and young people. This year’s Safer Internet Day takes place on Tuesday, February 11.
As part of this educational initiative, resources are highlighted under the theme “Together for a Better Internet,” on February 11th. We encourage you to visit Safer Internet Day's 2025 Get Involved hub to explore important resources designed to keep some of the most vulnerable people safe from the internet’s dangers.
“As we celebrate Safer Internet Day (SID) and prioritize education and responsible internet use, we have a strong opportunity to collectively build a better internet for future generations. While the internet unlocks limitless resources for young people, we must also acknowledge that it harbors serious threats. By supporting this collective effort, we can create a safer and more beneficial internet for everyone,” said Amy Cadaginn, M3AAWG Executive Director.
With its beginnings as part of the European Union’s SafeBorders project in 2004—the same year M3AAWG was formed—Safer Internet Day has grown exponentially over the years in both geography and scope, alongside M3AAWG itself. Unfortunately, this growth has been necessitated by the internet’s explosion of bad actors and their continuously evolving tactics.
“It’s crucial for us to stay ahead of the maleficence by prioritizing initiatives like Safer Internet Day and spreading the word about the educational resources provided by this campaign. This effort will help us work towards our goal of a safer internet for generations to come,” Cadagin added.
